8 Tips to Maximize the Impact of Your Teleseminar
-
1) Maximize Prime Time
According to teleseminar guru and Traffic Conversion Mentor And Strategist, Alex Mandossian,
minute 10 through minute 28 is when you will have the most participants on the call. Name the "call to action"
or most important points twice during this period.
-
2) Manage Sound
If you are using an automated bridge (operator free and affordable),
learn how to manage sound. Decide if you are going to have a
"listen only" mode or a interactive call. Sound management details are available at http://www.rentabridge.com/soundquality.htm.
-
3) Use Timing
The first five minutes - introductions and collecting your group. Prime time is from minute 10-28.
If you plan to take questions at the end, allow at least 15 minutes, preferably 25. Also note that just
because you have a larger call doesn't necessarily mean you will get more questions, conversely, smaller groups
can be intimate enough that you might have more questions. Expect about 5-7 questions on average.
-
4) Engage the Senses
Give a simple agenda or handout ahead of time for people to follow along visually. You can make this
available via email, a .pdf file (portable document format), or via fax. Ask people to take notes
and write things down during the call. Mid-call ask folks to stand and stretch and refocus.
-
5) Use Etiquette
Make sure people understand teleconference etiquette, such as: do not put the call on hold if you have music on hold or
do not breath heavily into the mouthpiece of your phone. Etiquette details are available at http://www.rentabridge.com/etiquette.htm.
-
6) Don't Be Fooled by Size
It is standard to have 60 percent or less show up to teleseminars that are over 30 people, especially
if it is free, so don't let that get you down. And, if it is your first call, do it even if you have only 4 participants,
the more experience the better.
-
7) Be Organized
Write your dial in number and passcode you will be calling in your
calendar next to you teleseminar appointment. Send email reminders the day of the call to attendees as well
(include the phone number, passcode, date and time in all time zones that are participating).
-
8) Record the Call
There are at least five reasons to record a conference call: a) To make hard copies and resell for a profit
b) To improve your performance c) For those who missed the call to listen
d) To use for marketing to new clients as a sample or gift e) To make transcripts for written materials
Note: If you record, be sure to have permission from all participants. Also, depending on how important the
recording is, it never hurts to have more than one method of recording.
-
8) Have Fun
If you are enjoying the process, this will be contagious for your participants. You
can be discussing serious topics and still convey your interest and passion in order
to engage listeners.
