Managing Sound on Conference Calls
Offering 30 Days of Playback Listening - Audio Podium
-
What is Audio Podium? It is where you punch in some numbers at the beginning of the conference
call and record your call so callers can call back into the bridge line later and
listen to the call. At Seek Solutions, your recording is available on our system for 21 days
from when you make your recording.
-
Think about the possibilities. You can offer the playback to clients or colleagues who can't make a call. Or, offer a free class
and let those who can't make it listen in later. It is a wonderful selling tool for teleclasses with multiple dates where students
may miss a class here and there - tell them that they can always make it up for 21 days after the class. Listening rooms for playback are available
24/7.
-
Audio podium is available on all of our 24/7 full conference bridge line rental lines (i.e.,
when you have your own conference bridge line through us).
-
Audio podium is also available through Seek Solutions on an hourly basis
as well at Prepay Conference Bridge w/Audio Podium. You can
purchase conference call time in advance, by the hour, that includes the audio podium, with 21 days of playback feature.
-

Use a Professional Service
Have a professional audio specialist handle your teleseminar recording needs. We recommend our bridge line clients to
Brigitte Nadeau and her company, Audio Strategies at audiostrategies.com.
She recommends you contact her a week in advance of your call for scheduling purposes, but needs at least 48 hours.
Fees start at around $30 per hour as of this posting.
She does Real Audio, Mp3, cassette tape, audio CD-Rom, CD-Rom (digital files such as Real Audio, Mp3, .wav), .wav file conversion, FTP to your server. Contact her directly with
questions via email, brigitte@audiostrategies.com, or call her at +1 (802) 744-2015, Monday-Friday,
9 AM - 5 PM Eastern time. Tell her we referred you so she knows what kind of conference bridge line you are renting.
-
Do it Yourself
If there is less riding on the quality or accuracy of your recording you can always do it yourself. There is
a variety of equipment out there if you are technically oriented (please don't ask us Seek Solutions, it is not
our specialty - thanks!).
Companies such as Radio Shack often have a simple cassette recorder with a phone hook up that you can use
(the whole set up is about $50 USD - ask them about it).
And, if you use your own method, you can always have Brigitte (see contact info above) help you make it into something
after the fact.

Food for Thought when Recording Conference Calls
-
Make sure participants do not tape the call with out explicit permission from the
instructor and all participants as it is not only illegal, but there may be
intellectual property involved.
-
If you are the teleclass instructor or call organizer, and recording the call, be sure to inform all participants as such.
You may want to create your own recording release agreement if you plan to use your recording
for commercial purposes.
